Why is Lived Expertise important? Research says that involving people who have accessed services in our systems can lead to a better sense of hope, empowerment, and inclusion for people being served. As a girl, my own experiences with homelessness left me with no power over my life and a feeling of helplessness for others just like me. Through the years I have seen firsthand how much people experiencing homelessness have felt unheard. This is why I created Lived Expertise. My goal is to help communities understand as well as support the importance of consulting, employing, and advocating for people that are directly affected by our systems.
